6 wounded in accidental grenade blast in Cagayan de Oro

COTABATO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) - A police officer and five other people were wounded in an accidental grenade blast today in the southern Philippines, police said.

Senior Police Officer 3 Cris Cadelina was giving lecture about anti-terrorism around 11:40 a.m in the southern city of Cagayan de Oro when a grenade he was holding accidentally went off, said Chief Superintendent Felicisimo Khu, chief of the Southeastern Mindanao police.

Cadelina accidentally pulled out the grenade's safety pin, causing it to explode, wounding him and five others, said Khu, adding the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital and are now out of danger. (report from Philstar.com)
